Single malt Irish Whiskey, matured in ex-bourbon casks then finished in virgin oak casks, using wood species as our key differentiator to flavour delivery. Our three initial core releases focus on the species which are most commonly grown to make into barrels.. Quercus Robur is a departure away from traditional ‘spirit’ casks. Robur is most often used for ‘European Oak’ sherry casks. The wood itself is more porous than either of the Patraea or Alba species, and much less sweet. The trees grow throughout Europe, but ours come from the highly prized region of Slavonia in Croatia – Lužnjak casks.
